Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and liturgically marks the beginning of Holy Week. Historically the Church has begun the service with an outdoor celebratory procession with palms and other greenery that culminates in the sanctuary. The service may remain on the observance of Palm Sunday; however, it is customary for the entire Passion narrative to be read on the Lord’s Day (not just Good Friday). The liturgy below allows the choice for either option.
